Build My Driver Profile →What you usually need
- A CDL of the right class (Class A for most tractor-trailers, Class B for many heavy straight trucks)
- A current DOT medical card
- Endorsements when required (for example hazmat, tanker or passenger)
- A driving record that meets the carrier's insurance requirements
Before you apply: Ask about home time, how pay is calculated (per mile, per load or hourly), and which endorsements the route needs.
General guidance only — each company sets its own requirements, and licensing rules can vary by state and vehicle.
